Position Title: Admission Representative-College of Graduate & Extended Studies
Position Accountable To: Director of Admission, College of Graduate and Extended Studies
GENERAL SUMMARY:
CMU is seeking a dynamic individual to work with prospective students through all stages of the admission process and to build/maintain personal relationships with targeted community colleges. Must follow up on necessary document collection to assure new students are academically and financially ready to start courses, and assist with planning and performing recruitment functions for prospective students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
40% Responds to emails and phone calls from students in a timely fashion and follows up on necessary documents for file completion
5% Accurately processes PEP incoming documents
10% Checks and organizes CGES (College of Graduate & Extended Studies) Inbox
25% Coordinates recruitment events and represents CMU at educational, transfer, and individual events
20% Coordinates with CGES admissions, academic advising, accounting and financial aid staff to assure excellent service for each student
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Understanding of higher education environment and the admission process, as well as two years of experience in an educational environment or customer service position preferred. The ability to communicate effectively, prioritize work flow, work well with minimum supervision and accept responsibility for total task completion is required. Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact and communicate effectively with prospective students and key community college staff members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasionally lift more than 25 pounds. Ability to drive to various locations of responsibility.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required. Experience with higher education a plus. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:
Must be able to work a varied schedule to accommodate timing of recruitment events and travel, including evenings and weekends. Travel is required with reimbursement for mileage when using personal vehicle.
